Vision for this position: This role will support the Professional Learning (PL) team in designing materials that enhance the learning experience for educators who participate in our PL. We aspire to attending to thoughtful design and accessibility for all so that the materials do not distract from opportunities to learn.
Position Type: Contractor (with a start date as soon as possible and with the possibility of becoming full time at some point)
Location: Remote - open to U.S. residents only
Responsibilities
- Work with the Professional Learning (PL) content creation team and marketing team to develop slide themes, slide templates, handout templates, and guidance for the visual look and feel of materials so that they are clear, inviting, and accessible.
- Train contractors and work with the PL team to provide quality assurance for the design of all PL materials that are produced.
- Study existing PL materials for virtual and onsite sessions, and determine the visual design and accessibility needs to ensure participants have positive experiences. This may include attending PL sessions, meeting with participants, and meeting with stakeholders within IM.
- Advise PL team members on best practices for ensuring that PL materials and events are as visually accessible as possible.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Must Have:
Experience in visual design, graphic design, or digital design of materials
- Oriented to visual details, and able to work with others, some who are visually detail-oriented people, and some who are not
- Knowledge of Google Drive, including:
- Permissions in shared drives, workspaces, and folders
- Templates for Google Slides and Google Docs
- Themes in Google Slides
- Linked slides in Google Slides
Nice to Have:
- Experience with visual design for adult learners
- Experience with visual design for websites
- Experience with designing for animations or video, such as illustrating a math concept dynamically
- Experience with designing for accessibility, or willingness to learn
- Experience with IM’s professional learning tools and stakeholder experiences, or willingness to learn
Details:
- Position is remote only and open to U.S. residents only
- Interviews will begin immediately
- Posting will be open until position is filled
- At least 40 hours per month, with opportunity for up to 100 hours per month based on availability
- Hours will be paid at a rate between $40 and $60 commensurate with experience
