Technical Investigator / Data Scientist - AI Safety
This role is remote, so it can be executed globally. If you prefer, you can work from our offices in New York, London and Warsaw.
We are looking for an experienced technical investigator and/or data scientist to serve as the founding member of our AI Safety Intelligence, Investigations and Data Function. The ideal candidate combines subject matter expertise in at least one core area, such as foreign interference, fraud and/or other safety-related areas, with a solid data science background including experience building detection models for complex abuse.

About the role
As the founding member of our Threat Intelligence, Investigations and Data function in our AI Safety team, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to understand, detect and enforce against the nexus of complex adversarial threats and some of the most powerful tools in AI technology.
In this role, you will:
Build out our Threat Intelligence, Investigations and Data program from scratch, including designing and implementing intelligence collections and investigative workflows
Analyze the deployment of our products and services to identify how they may be misused or abused, with a particular focus on fraud & scams, impersonation and influence operations
Build out relationships with industry, vendors and the intelligence community to systematically ingest actionable external signal
Build out our proactive detection capabilities through conducting deep dive qualitative investigations as well as building our ML models to detect complex behavioral abuse, in collaboration with our safety engineering teams
Track evolution of threat actor TTPs to understand adversarial adaptation to our continuously improving mitigations; keep up to date with tech industry best practices
Collaborate with our product and safety teams to implement systematic changes to to our safety stack based on investigative outcomes
Willing to stretch into broader AI safety data science work by building out our AI safety metrics and dashboards

What you bring
4+ years of experience on a trust & safety or security team in a technical threat investigator and/or data science role
Experience leveraging external and internal signals and building models to combat complex abuse in areas such as fraud, cybersecurity and/or influence operations
Expertise in SQL, experience in Python and data analysis tools
Strong candidates will also have a mix of experience in:
Building out threat intelligence programs
Operational design including building investigative workflows from the ground up
Subject matter expertise in fraud, influence operations and/or cyberthreats
Experience mentoring a team of investigators and/or data scientists
