💻 Role
Growth engineers at Whatnot are responsible for expanding our new user funnel across buyers and sellers to accelerate the rapid growth of our marketplace. We focus on the full funnel, developing opportunities to grow traffic across multiple channels while also creating delightful new user experiences to activate and retain buyers and sellers for the long term.
In this role, you will build out our core Incentivized buyer growth strategy, including gamified incentives and offer experiences to continue to accelerate Whatnot’s rapid growth. As a lead engineer, you will lead other frontend and fullstack engineers to build our core incentive system from the ground up.
Growth engineers at Whatnot have big ownership and velocity in order to significantly impact the company top-line metrics. We always prioritize the highest impact features and ship them quickly. You will have a lot of freedom to research and find new opportunities to drive the product direction.

As our next Staff Software Engineer in Growth you should have 5+ years of software development experience, plus:
Experience building E-commerce products
Frontend or Fullstack engineering experience
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience leading engineers to deliver significant business impact
Proven track record of delivering features. You are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast.
Excellent cross functional team communications
Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution.
Self motivated, relentlessly focused on impact and able to operate under great deal of independence
Excellent problem solver and don’t need to be told exactly what to do.
Good communication skills in both written and verbal English
