The Community You Will Join:
Airbnb’s On Trip team is responsible for providing Guests and Hosts a seamless journey from post booking to checkout including our recent addition of Smart Lock Integration. The team is cross-discipline with expertise in iOS, Android, web, and backend development. We work closely with backend platform teams and our partners in design, product, data science, and marketing to deliver a great post booking experience for Guests and Hosts.
The Difference You Will Make:
As a Staff Android Engineer in the On Trip team, you will:
Explore, shape, and develop the new product experiences alongside cross-functional partners (design and product); from ideation to implementation at scale.
Develop prototypes to validate ideas while proactively considering long-term implications on technical design and architecture.
Translate prototypes to high quality, scalable, and maintainable production code through iterative development.
Cross-collaborate across engineering to build new features holistically.
A Typical Day:
Work across engineering, product, and design to deliver features in the on trip space for Guests and Hosts
Plan, share, align, and execute technical solutions
Prototype, facilitate feedback, iterate, and deliver product features and improvements
Foster an engineering environment of quality code, relevant documentation, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing
Interact and work with smart lock hardware to understand and solve for product challenges
Your Expertise:
9+ years of software development experience building Android applications and products at scale
Expertise in Kotlin/Java and Jetpack Compose
Strong knowledge of UI architecture and performance
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working well within engineering and across functions
Passionate about design and building UX products
Pushing boundaries of design and product features by balancing tradeoffs and iterating to the ideal solution
Experience working on a product engineering team or customer-centric platform team
Motivation for personal growth and learning new technologies
Your Location:
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
