Sr. Counsel
What you’ll do:
Develop strategies to protect the company from IP-related risks in furtherance of the company’s business goals.
Oversee the company’s patent portfolio, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications to protect inventions.
Manage the company’s trademark portfolio by setting strategy for conducting clearance searches, filing trademark applications, and enforcing trademark rights against infringement.
Provide support to internal and external litigation counsel on patent and trademark threats and filed litigation, including developing invalidity and noninfringement positions.
Lead licensing discussions and negotiate and draft agreements related to intellectual property, such as licensing agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
Advise company stakeholders on intellectual property matters, providing training sessions, and raising awareness of the importance of IP protection.
Conduct intellectual property due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions to assess risks and opportunities related to patents and trademarks.
Provide support to other Legal teams on IP issues, such as negotiating and drafting IP related provisions in various agreements.
Develop and oversee operationalization of policies to comply with copyright and trademark safe harbor laws such as the DMCA, including managing the company’s IP notice-and-takedown program and providing daily escalation support to IP Operations and other Trust & Safety Operations teams.
Advise on Open Source issues.
What we’re looking for:
Qualified to practice law in the U.S. state where you reside.
At least 6 years of post-qualification experience counseling on patent and trademark issues.
Qualification to practice before the USPTO preferred.
Experience with patent and trademark litigation preferred.
Exceptional judgment and impeccable integrity with excellent communication and client-service skills.
Eagerness to learn with a strong desire to embrace an entrepreneurial, flexible, and collaborative working style.
Experience leading and multitasking on competing projects and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
