Software Engineer - Internal Tools
As a software engineer on the Internal Tools engineering team you will build an internal platform that brings joy to your end users—Figma employees. You will also be involved in providing guidance on how other engineering teams can build internal experiences. We excel by working closely with our internal customers to develop what they and Figma need. Whether this is collaborating on new AI strategies for Customer Support, enhancing internal engineering workflows to reduce friction, automating Sanctions and Digital Services Act (DSA) compliance, or building AI moderation platform capabilities, we have a broad scope which enables us to delight and deliver highly impactful outcomes. This role is a good fit if you are a Full Stack Engineer that is passionate about multiplying our engineering efforts through automation, testing, orchestration, documentation, and productivity tools.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
Build, document, and maintain tests, features, and infrastructure.
Regularly communicate and document architectural designs and requirements.
Take shared ownership of the engineering process. Every member of our team is involved from ideation to implementation.
Break down high level goals into tasks and timeline without product and design support to achieve desired outcomes.
Regularly collaborate with Product Support, TPMs, and other engineers on and beyond your team (or org) to plan features that reduce friction of internal processes.
Provide thoughtful feedback to others on the team and facilitate spaces of learning, belonging, and growth.
Help interview and recruit more talented engineers to Figma.
Run experiments, tracking internal user behavior and engaging internal users to improve workflows and processes.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
3+ years of professional experience shipping features and/or products as a full-stack developer.
Demonstrated coding fluency with one or more programming languages in a working context, including but not limited to: Typescript/Javascript, React, Ruby, Python, Go, or Rust.
Experience communicating and working effectively across functions to proactively drive solutions.
Experience with crafting delightful user experiences that enable internal teams.
Experience w/ Datadog or another observability system, like Prometheus & Grafana (open source) for debugging, monitoring, and alerting applications.
Finally, Figma is a close-knit company with a strong culture that promotes inclusivity and collaboration, taking ambitious goals and having fun doing so. You deeply value these traits and see yourself actively contributing to it.
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
2+ years of experience operating in a technical lead capacity
A growth mindset and experience investing in the learning, development, belonging, and impact of your peers
Experience in and a desire to teach fellow engineers through pairing, code review, and in-the-moment feedback
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
