The team
The Compliance Lead, will sit within the UK wider Compliance Team and report to the UK CCO and be responsible for ensuring the performance of operational compliance controls, regulatory compliance for the UK crypto MLR registered firm. This role will have 2 direct reports.
The opportunity
Assist in ensuring that the MLR registered Kraken entity complies with all relevant regulatory requirements set forth by the FCA and MLRs
Manage the team of 2 reports to ensure all assigned tasks are delivered accurately and within the timeline
Assist with the review of the compliance policies and procedures
Oversee compliance central log, training and the MI reporting
Assist in developing, updating, and implementing compliance policies and procedures. Ensure that these are communicated effectively within the organization
Be responsible for execution of the UK CMP across in scope entities
Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify potential compliance issues. Report findings to the CCO and relevant committees
Provide compliance training to employees and offer guidance on compliance matters, especially in relation to trading activities
Collaborate in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks and ensure effective risk control measures are in place
Assist with the regulatory reporting where needed
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to foster a compliance culture within the organization
Coordinate and liaise with Kraken Global Compliance to ensure alignment between global, regional and local compliance policies, procedures, and operations, if needed
Skills you should HODL
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Compliance or Business Administration
Relevant experience in compliance within the financial services sector, preferably in a MiFID firm or crypto business
Knowledge of UK financial regulations environment guidelines (MiFID II, MAR, MiFIR, SMCR, IFPR, CASS, etc)
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively analyse risk and apply sound judgement in a timely manner
Practical knowledge of compliance risk management techniques
Proactive, organized and comfortable with navigating ambiguity
Strong ethical standards and integrity
