What Product Management is like at Gusto:
We’re looking for high-autonomy, entrepreneurial Product Managers to come build high-impact solutions for small businesses and their employees. We believe in high-ownership Product Managers who operate like business owners - owning an entire roadmap end to end and shipping product all the way from strategy through to the nitty gritty details (some describe this kind of role as a “GM” type role).
Our Product team is lean, which means you’ll have a high degree of impact and ownership.
We’re here to serve small and medium businesses. Gusto has a strong mission-driven culture, and we care deeply about lifting up these business owners.
About the Team:
Invoice & Billing sits within our Growth team focusing on key initiatives like anniversary billing, billing in advance, usage-based billing, etc. These are major, foundational projects in the early stages, involving collaboration with downstream teams such as Growth, Customer Support, Accounting, Finance, Business Intelligence, and Product. This role will be crucial in supporting Gusto’s expanding range of customer-facing products.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
Ownership: Own the billing and subscription lifecycle strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
North Star: Identify new revenue opportunities through billing innovations and automation.
Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, data, finance, and operations to enhance billing infrastructure.
Translate business needs into clear product requirements and roadmaps for cross-functional teams.
Lead end-to-end product development, driving execution and delivering impactful solutions.
Here’s what we're looking for:
5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, with a track record of designing complex billing solutions.
Strong understanding of billing automation technologies and financial regulations affecting product design.
Proven ability to drive large-scale, cross-functional projects from concept to execution.
Data-driven mindset, using metrics, customer feedback, and business insights to inform strategy.
Technical fluency—comfortable collaborating with engineering and translating technical trade-offs for non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills to align teams across growth, marketing, finance, and business intelligence.
Customer-centric and solution-oriented approach, ensuring products deliver real value to end-users.
If you don't think you meet all of the criteria above but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone excited to join the team.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $153,000 to $191,000/yr in Denver & most major metro locations, and $186,000 to $230,000/yr for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
