About the role
As the Senior Engineering Manager of the Scribd Core Team, you’re an experienced engineering manager who brings both technical expertise and a people-first approach to engineering management. You excel at building and guiding cohesive, high-performing teams. You have a deep understanding of full-stack web development, thrive on tackling complex technical challenges, and are keyed into the business strategy of both subscription and advertising monetization.
As the Senior Engineering Manager for the Core Scribd Team, you will:
Lead and grow a talented and successful engineering team focused on delivering high-quality, user-centered features for Scribd.
Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Design, Marketing, as well as other engineering disciplines such as AI/ML and Infrastructure teams to define the roadmap and set priorities that align with our goals.
Deliver solutions that enhance the experience for both users and advertisers, contributing to a balanced and sustainable revenue model for Scribd.
Play a pivotal role in maturing our adtech capabilities, working to bring select ad technology in-house and expand our advertising strategies.
Foster a culture of operational excellence, driving improvements in code quality, testing, and site performance.
We’re looking for someone with:
3+ years of engineering management experience with a proven track record of leading high-performing, full-stack development teams.
Experience building high-scale web front ends with React; additional experience with Ruby on Rails and/or GraphQL a plus.
A collaborative, empathetic approach to leadership, with demonstrated success in mentoring, developing, and supporting engineering teams.
A data-informed mindset, with the ability to define and track key performance metrics, ensuring impactful product outcomes.
Experience with adtech, ideally including working with in-house or third-party ad solutions and integrating advertising strategies within a digital platform.
