Senior Manager of Software Engineering
Position Summary:
The Sr. Manager of Software Engineering oversees and coordinates the people, resources, and processes required to deliver new software or upgrade existing products. They achieve all or most of their goals through delegation to their team. The Sr. Manager coaches and mentors their direct reports in a way that results in high growth. They have a high amount of influence on their team as well as within their broader organization. The Sr. Manager moves past being only tactical but is strategic in the way they run their team. They command a high degree of trust and remove obstacles so that their team can attain optimal performance. The Sr. Manager provides direct leadership in delivering critical or at-risk projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
Strategically grow, manage, and develop a team highly skilled team of Software Engineers (e.g., hiring, mentoring, developing, giving performance reviews, giving feedback at weekly 1:1 meetings)
Lead projects to completion
Influence the team and broader organization by providing technical advice during the planning of complex solutions
Document solutions so that information can be easily disseminated to the Engineering team
Contribute to projects and software releases
Coordinates and manages on-call rotations
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
At least eight (8) years of software development experience
At least two (2) years of software management experience
Ability to be passionate about managing software developers
Solid understanding of software engineering principles
Ability to build strong identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
Ability to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals
Ability to paint a compelling picture of the vision and strategy that motivates others to action
Ability to know the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement
Ability to see ahead to future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies
Required Education & Certifications:
B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
Compensation:
Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $155,000 or more depending on experience
