Senior Conversion Copywriter
About the Role:
Black and White Zebra is an independent media tech company that owns and operates a growing portfolio of digital media brands and publishing technology. We’re on a mission to help people win at work, and to help us achieve this, we’re hiring a Senior Conversion Copywriter.
Reporting to the Head of Growth Marketing, your primary goal will be to craft compelling, high-impact copy that drives engagement and conversions across our digital platforms, including web, email, social media, and paid ads. This role is pivotal in shaping how we communicate with our audiences, ensuring that our brands and products are presented in the best possible light and driving revenue growth.
As a key member of our Growth team, you’ll work closely with our editorial, product, design, and SEO teams to bring our brand’s voice to life, optimize sales funnels, and maximize impact through data-driven experimentation.

What you'll be doing (responsibilities):
High-Impact Conversion Copy Creation: Craft persuasive, conversion-focused copy for web, email, social media, and paid ads. This includes product pages, headlines, hero copy, CTAs, subject lines, body copy, and more.
Sales Funnel Optimization: Collaborate with marketing and product teams to optimize sales funnels, using data-driven insights and A/B testing to refine copy and improve conversion rates.
Content and Media Creation: Develop engaging and conversion-focused content across multiple formats, including lead magnets, blog posts, infographics, video and podcast titles/descriptions, and PR materials such as press releases and media pitches, all aligned with business goals and brand messaging.
A/B Testing and Optimization: Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate copy effectiveness across various channels, continually refining performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, design, product, and SEO teams to ensure copy aligns with brand voice, goals, and strategic objectives.
Brand Consistency: Ensure all copy maintains a consistent tone and style that aligns with Black and White Zebra’s brand guidelines.
Mentorship: As a senior team member, mentor and guide junior writers, helping to set the standard for the company’s copywriting practices.
How your success will be measured:
Web conversion rate: The percentage of website visitors who complete desired actions.
Email engagement rates: Open and click-through rates of marketing emails.
Volume of tasks completed: Number of copywriting tasks and projects completed within deadlines.
Content marketing engagement: Performance of lead magnets, blog posts, and multimedia content in driving conversions.
Your skillset includes:
Proven experience in conversion copywriting with a strong portfolio showcasing high-impact web, email, social media, and paid ad copy.
Expertise in A/B testing and using analytics to drive content optimization.
Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, sales funnels, and how to apply them to copywriting.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
Experience in using content management systems, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
Nice to haves:
Experience with SEO and keyword research.
Familiarity with UX writing and microcopy for web and app interfaces.
Previous experience in a tech or media company.
Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Experience in mentoring or training junior copywriters.
$90,000 - $110,000 a year
This full-time position is available as either a remote or hybrid position, depending on location, with an annual salary in the range of $90,000 to $110,000 CAD. The range is a guide for the expected skills, knowledge and experience for new hires based in Canada only. Seniority level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. This means ranges will vary for candidates based outside of Canada and/or at different seniority levels. In addition to annual salary, full-time employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
