Senior Android Engineer - Payments

Payments enables trust and is a core and strategic part of Airbnb fueling growth with easy to use payment services. We are building a world-class payments platform that moves billions of dollars, in 191 countries, with 75 currencies, through a complex ecosystem of payments partners. We build and maintain our own in-house global payments platform because no solution exists with the global reach needed. As the platform grows we’ll be adding new payment partners, global licenses, and building new payment experiences for our guests and hosts.

You’ll play an impactful role to build mobile-first payment experiences on one of the fastest growing platforms for Airbnb. Recent projects the team has worked on include:
Provide localized payment options so guests can pay how they prefer to pay
Build earnings dashboard to provide information and insights to enable hosts to better understand and manage their earnings
Enable server-driven UI to provide more responsive and customized payment experiences on the Airbnb platform
Experimenting with redesigning our mobile payment experiences to drive checkout conversion
Native foundation modernization through platform compliance upgrade, performance and observability improvements
A Typical Day:
Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to design and deliver high-quality products on Android
Build efficient and reusable mobile components and architect reliable, performant, and scalable mobile solutions
Follow data-driven approaches to conduct experiments and iterate features
Identify areas of improvement and advocate for mobile best practices
Your Expertise:
5+ years' industry experience in Android development
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
Fluency in Kotlin/Java and Jetpack Compose
Experience shipping one or more Android apps
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working well within engineering and across functions
Passionate about design and building UX products
Pushing boundaries of design and product features by balancing tradeoffs and iterating to the ideal solution
Interest in innovations within the mobile and payment industries
Your Location:
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
