About the job
Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking a Senior Accountant who will be a key contributor on our US General Ledger Accounting team. This is a dynamic position which requires extreme attention to detail, professional curiosity, and the desire for professional growth. You will gain experience in a large tech company and will have the opportunities to be recognized for your contributions. As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with the greater Accounting, Payroll, Real Estate and FP&A teams to provide quality and accurate financial results on a timely basis. We are looking for an individual excited to bring their passion for process improvement to a collaborative team-based working environment. This role will report to the Manager, Accounting based in California.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Execute month-end close including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, SOX controls and financial statement disclosures
Maintain a thorough understanding of the G/L structure, processes and transactions that feed into it
Developing and delivering clear, concise, and engaging explanations related to fluctuations between periods of financial statement lines
Assist with accounting projects from inception to completion, including process improvement initiatives, automation, and other ad hoc projects, ensuring timely and successful execution
Partner with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
Prioritize communications with business partners to ensure accruals are accurate during a tight month-end close window
Help with various process improvement projects within the team and other GL transactions
Streamline accounting policies and procedures

Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Finance/Accounting related function
3+ years in public accounting or experience working at a fast growing company
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and operational month-end close processes
Proven ability to prioritize work independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present to peers and management
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively.
Team player with strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail
Desire to learn new skills and take on additional tasks to support the team
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Desired:
Experience designing and executing SOX controls
Experience with Oracle or other large ERP systems
Experience with payroll or lease accounting a plus
Active/working toward CPA license a plus
Location
This role will be remote and based in the USA.
Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
Based in Colorado: $84,000-$105,000.
This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
