As a Senior Accountant, you will be a key member of our Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented, eager accounting professional to have a significant impact in a fast-growing organization. You will be utilizing your problem-solving skills and making recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounting department. This role is perfect for someone who is a self-starter and looking to build their career, while leveling up the business.
This role will begin as a position with the Corporate Accounting team for the first 8 months, after which it will transition to the Revenue Accounting team, both within the Senior Accountant capacity
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What we're looking for:
4+ years of experience in Finance with a CPA designation. SaaS or technology company experience is considered an asset.
Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
Advanced expertise with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, experience with NetSuite and SalesForce is considered an asset
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple competing priorities while being flexible and resilient.
Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, accuracy, and process improvement skills.
A knack for learning things on your own and quickly adapting to new environments.
Experience with intercompany transactions and a multicurrency corporation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate teamwork skills in a growing team.
What you can expect:
Accounting Close & General Ledger Management:
Perform or review month-end closing tasks including preparing, and analyzing accounting entries and account reconciliations which include the following accounts: prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, capitalized development costs, capitalized commission costs, revenue. deferred revenue, accounts receivable.
Participate in the month end close process, ensuring timelines are being met.
Produce clear, well-structured documentation within working papers that support reporting needs and audit processes.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct variance analysis for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts and provide meaningful insights into financial trends.
Assist Director, Corporate Accounting in the preparation of the monthly reporting package which includes financial analysis.
Audit Support:
Participate in internal and external audits.
Provide necessary documentation and explanations during audit processes.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Process Improvement:
Collaborate with other departments such as Sales Operations, Engineering and IT to gather and analyze financial information.
Collaborate with members of the FP&A team to ensure alignment in understanding for how various transactions are accounted for.
Implement best practices to streamline accounting processes and assist in projects related to automation of financial reporting processes.
Compliance:
Stay current on US GAAP accounting pronouncements and ensure the company’s accounting practices comply with relevant regulations.
USA-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $88,000 USD and $118,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $81,000 CAD and $109,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
