The team
Our global Compliance team is redefining how compliance should be done - we challenge the norms and practices of the incumbent industry participants to identify ways to make Compliance at Kraken a competitive advantage. Our teams navigate the regulatory uncertainty and changing policy positions of global regulators and governments to help chart a path that ensures Kraken is successful in a truly dynamic industry.
Kraken Global Sanctions Compliance team supports the Sanctions needs of Kraken and its global subsidiaries. The team is responsible for all things sanctions related, to include investigations, escalations, regulatory reporting, internal controls, testing, issue management and resolution, remediations, program enhancements, audit deliverables, governance, presentations, regulatory responses, new product reviews, risk analysis, review and maintenance of policies and procedures, as well as providing sanctions advisory and guidance to Kraken’s leadership and regional compliance officers. The opportunity
Continually monitor and assess Sanctions Regulatory requirements across EU; and globally.
Develop & Execute Strategy to anticipate and comply with regulatory changes within Sanctions landscape.
Perform annual program benchmarking analysis, incorporating regulatory requirements from each of the sanctions regimes applicable to Kraken.
Lead regulatory, audit, and testing responses, and remediations.
Assist in annual sanctions risk assessment and policy updates.
Support leadership in performing deep rooted sanctions regulatory research in preparation for licensing applications, self-disclosures, administrative subpoenas, new products, regulatory updates, regulatory inquiries, audits, exams, launch readiness, etc.
Skills you should HODL
10+ years of relevant experience in compliance, sanctions, or financial crime compliance
Subject Matter Expertise of EU Sanctions Regulations, as well as Member State requirements of Sanctions for CASPs and VASPs
Experience at a global financial institution, fintech, or cryptocurrency exchange.
Have experience in obtaining VASP/EMI licensing in the EU
Experience presenting to Regulators
Experience building a Regulatory/Advisory/Program Management function
Nice-to-Haves
ACAMS or ACSS sanctions certification
Legal background preferred but not required
