Sales and Use Tax Manager
Role Description
Dropbox has an exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager to help lead Sales & Use Tax operations.
This role will report to the the Head of Indirect Tax and will partner and collaborate with Tax Analysts, VAT Managers and other members of the Tax, Finance and Technology teams to oversee Sales and Use tax compliance for Dropbox in all US states.
In this role, you’ll work on and oversee all aspects of Sales and Use Tax, including tax fillings and payments, accounting, controls, audits, advisory, research, data and automation, and implementation of projects and initiatives. You’ll be ready to roll up your sleeves to improve processes and implement best practices. You are data savvy and a self-starter who follows through, gets stuff done, and has a passion for all things transaction tax.
Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation and filling of Sales and Use Tax returns in all US states, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations and perform other accounting tasks.
Perform and implement controls, tests, data analysis, systems and process assurance reviews to ensure tax compliance and reduce risk.
Perform financial reporting tasks, risk assessments, ASC-450 reviews and calculations.
Manage tax audits and similar reviews and inquiries.
Perform tax technical research, prepare and review memos, stay abreast of US Sales and Use Tax legislative developments and provide subject matter expertise.
Collaborate cross-functionally with tax, finance, legal, product / tech and other departments to integrate indirect tax considerations into business processes and transactions.
Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance compliance and efficiency.
Requirements
6+ years of Sales Tax experience with progressively increasing responsibilities and accountability
Public Accounting or Law Firm experience combined with in-house tech company tax accounting experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Law or equivalent
Tax/Accounting systems and data analysis skills and experience
Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Advanced degree (MBA, JD, MST, Ph.D.)
Experience managing Sales and Use Tax audits, Voluntary Disclosures and other reviews and interactions with US state tax authorities
Experience working with Oracle ERP, Vertex and other billing systems or tax engines
Data and business analytics & reporting - experience with data reporting and/or visualization tools, such as Oracle Analytics, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL
