Reddit Legal is looking for a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel to join their growing team. You’ll have the unique opportunity to build processes, collaborate cross functionally, and play a key role in the team’s ability to scale globally. The Regulatory and Litigation Counsel will be the first of its kind based in India and will liaise with various teams around Reddit to respond to inquiries from regulators around the world. They will also help shape and execute our litigation strategy across APAC and other regions.
Minimum qualifications required for this role. Due to the volume of applications, we will not consider applicants who do not have this required experience.
JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the U.S, UK, or an EU member state.
8-10 years of experience with regulatory and litigation matters, including at least 5 years of experience working on U.S. and/or EU/UK regulatory matters.
At least 3-4 years of experience working on active litigation matters.
Minimum 2 years of experience working at a law firm or as in-house counsel in the U.S. or UK/EU.
Preferred qualifications:
3-4 years of experience working at a law firm or as in-house counsel in the U.S. or UK/EU.
Experience responding to inquiries and other requests made by regulators and other government officials, with a preference for experience with consumer protection, privacy, media and competition regulators in the EU and/or UK.
Knowledge of litigation, regulatory, and content moderation/safety issues in a technology context. Some in-house experience in the tech industry strongly preferred.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex litigation.
Experience working with technology companies and ability to understand complex technical issues.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and partner with outside counsel and cross-functional teams.
Excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication, time management, investigative skills, with the ability to be action-oriented and collaborate effectively across teams in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
Act as litigation counsel with responsibility for driving strategy and day-to-day management of a wide range of global litigation and regulatory matters.
Lead responses to regulatory inquiries and requests from governments around the globe, with a particular focus on EU member states, the UK, and the Asia Pacific Region.
Oversee the accurate collection and production of information for external submissions and disclosures in the context of regulatory- and litigation-related requests.
Provide timely advice to cross-functional partners on urgent government and law enforcement requests, facilitating effective collaboration and response.
Serve as the primary legal advisor for legal hold issues, e-discovery, and subpoenas.
Select and retain competent and cost-effective external counsel and experts, building strong working relationships, setting performance goals, guiding their efforts, and monitoring their performance against budgetary constraints.
Provide counsel on India compliance matters.
