We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Engineer to join our Growth Engineering team. This full-stack role, with a strong emphasis on frontend development, will be crucial in driving the technical strategy and implementation of growth initiatives across our platform. You will lead complex engineering projects, mentor engineering talent, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions that enhance user acquisition, retention, and overall customer experience. As a Principal Engineer, you will raise the bar for engineering excellence, embrace operational excellence, and break down our largest, most complex, and ambiguous projects into manageable, actionable components.
You Will:
Develop and promote architecture and design strategies, frameworks, and patterns while collaborating closely with engineering and product organizations
Lead the design, development, and deployment of our most complex and largest cross-team initiatives across the organization
Drive the delivery of scalable, performant, and secure solutions that powers forhims.com, forhers.com, and our hims and her mobile apps
Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, and marketing teams to identify opportunities for growth and optimize conversion funnels through user-friendly interfaces
Break down large, complex, and ambiguous problems into clear, actionable initiatives and tasks to drive successful outcomes
Participate in product discovery sessions to assess feasibility, explore user needs, define product features, and validate ideas with prototypes and experiments
Raise the bar for code quality and engineering standards, ensuring that all solutions are robust, testable, observable, maintainable, secure, and scalable
Mentor and guide staff and senior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
Drive technical discussions and provide insights as a member of our technical advisory group to help guide and provide feedback on critical decisions and provide insights to shape the growth engineering strategy and roadmap
Drive a mindset of operational excellence through continuous improvement and learning
Analyze performance metrics and user feedback to inform technical direction and product enhancements, ensuring a seamless user experience
Stay on top of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our engineering processes and product offerings
You Have:
15+ years as a software engineer, shipping production code
Proven track record of leading complex projects and driving successful growth initiatives
Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next, GraphQL) and libraries, as well as backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python)
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
Proven track record of influencing and impacting without authority across teams and the company
Capable of prioritizing multiple projects in order to meet goals without management oversight
Experience introducing new architecture and design concepts, including coaching, adoption, and execution within your domain and aligned with tech organization strategies
Expert understanding of modern frontend development including responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, seo, and accessibility
