Manager - Software Engineering
Location: Full Time Remote
The Role:
As a hands-on, Software Engineering Manager at Globalization Partners, you will lead a small team(s) of software engineers within our Billing Platform. You will play a pivotal role in driving the vision, strategy, and execution of the platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our clients. You will work cross-functionally with product, design, customer success, and go to market to develop innovative solutions, ensure compliance, and deliver an exceptional user experience. You’ll be responsible for shaping the delivery roadmaps, resource management, and guiding the team in the continuous improvement and expansion of the platform.

What you'll do:
Work collaboratively and build healthy partnerships with engineering leadership, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand high-level requirements and help develop software architecture and design. Create and drive the detailed planning, scheduling and execution of development plans to meet business goals and schedules. Guide your teams to deliver value by setting a data driven strategy that is aligned with the organisation and business goals. Drive the implementation of development activities on teams you are responsible for. Provide hands-on technical leadership to development teams. Help define and ensure engineering excellence is practiced in your teams, utilising metrics to track progress – e.g. DORA metrics. Promote and drive innovation in technologies, processes, and tools. Manage, mentor and develop your team members.
What we’re looking for:
Solid software engineering background, with 8+ years of experience developing enterprise-scale web/cloud-based commercial software platforms and products – preferably SaaS products. 3+ years of experience leading complex software development projects through all phases of the software development life cycle using Agile/Scrum methodologies. Proven record of strong technical leadership and people management. Strong experience with both back-end and front-end technologies – Node.js, React, Java, Spring, CSS, REST, GraphQL, SQL, etc. Strong knowledge of modern cloud architectures and technologies. Experience with the latest serverless technologies. AWS certification as a plus. Experience in implementing Well Architected Framework guidelines around security, performance, operational excellence and scalability. Experience in a start-up or high-growth environment is highly desirable. Experience migrating large monolithic applications to modern cloud architectures. Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of working with ambiguous requirements and minimal direction, and a strong sense of ownership. Challenge yourself, learn from others, and strive to grow professionally every day. Emotionally mature team player with a positive can-do attitude. Proven track record of attracting and retaining talent B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
