Manager - Marketing Analytics

The MyFitnessPal Business Intelligence (aka Data & Analytics) team is responsible for applying data and analytics to drive business growth and profitability across the organization. It is broadly responsible for creating growth through i) improving the customer’s digital experience (ie, product), ii) marketing efficiency, customer acquisition and customer retention, and iii) providing reporting and other tools to increase the application of data-driven decision-making across the entire organization.
We are seeking a Manager, Marketing Analytics to use data and insights to help optimize all aspects of the marketing strategy. In this role, you will be critical to driving data-driven decision-making across performance marketing and brand marketing. Our technology stack includes Airflow, Snowflake, dbt, and Tableau, which will be critical tools for enabling robust analytics and insights. Given the constraints of precise marketing attribution, this role requires expertise in analytics methodologies that provide actionable insights to optimize marketing strategies. You will report to the VP of Analytics who leads all analytics and business intelligence for the company.
What you’ll be doing:
Descriptive Analytics:
Build, standardize, and automate daily reporting dashboards
Report on acquisition, conversion, and competitive metrics in weekly and monthly scorecards
Track app rank positions in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and monitor competitive performance metrics
Diagnostic Analytics:
Analyze marketing campaign effectiveness, uncover root causes of performance fluctuations, and provide actionable recommendations
Evaluate the impact of marketing initiatives across different channels, including performance marketing and brand marketing
Investigate factors influencing app rank position and identify strategies to improve rankings
Conduct ad-hoc analyses for brand, PR, and performance marketing
Predictive Analytics:
Develop and refine customer lifetime value (LTV) models to forecast revenue and assess ROI for marketing investments
Use predictive modeling to segment users and identify high-value customer cohorts
Leverage advanced statistical techniques to predict user behaviors and inform marketing and product strategies
Maintain and automate LTV models, ensuring ongoing accuracy and reliability
Marketing Attribution:
Design and implement approaches to measure marketing effectiveness despite the lack of precise attribution data
Evaluate marketing channel contributions using incrementality testing, MMM (Marketing Mix Modeling), or other attribution methodologies
Conduct A/B and matched market testing to improve the effectiveness of marketing strategies
Collaboration and Communication:
Ensure transparency with data across the business, fostering trust and collaboration
Collaborate with marketing and BI teams for data quality checks and documentation on new and existing tables as needed
Participate in weekly prioritization and marketing strategy meetings to align with team goals and initiatives

Qualifications to be Successful in This Role:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus
6+ years in applied analytics, with 3+ years in consumer marketing analytics and a focus on performance and brand marketing
2+ years leading or mentoring data or business analysts
Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools
Strong statistical and predictive modeling skills using programming languages or tools
Experience working with, configuring, and interpreting a/b testing solutions
Experience working with mobile app analytics platforms or related technologies
Solid understanding of marketing attribution models, challenges, and solutions
Proven ability to synthesize data and communicate actionable insights to diverse stakeholders including business partners and executives
Experience with marketing in the mobile app ecosystem, particularly in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store environments preferred
Experience in consumer subscription businesses preferred

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $115,000 - $165,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, MyFitnessPal offers a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, parental planning, mental health benefits, annual performance bonus, a 401(k) plan and match, responsible time off, monthly wellness and technology allowances, and others.
