Manager, Engineering - Partnerships
At MyFitnessPal, our vision is to be the most trusted brand for improving your health through better food choices. We believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide the tools and resources to reach your weight management goals.
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join the MyFitnessPal Engineering team to focus on building external partnerships within our mobile ecosystem. Our users rely on MyFitnessPal to power their health and fitness journeys every day. As a member of our MyFitnessPal Engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to positively impact those users by leading a cross-functional team of Android, Backend, iOS, and Web engineers for a Product Squad. The team focuses on outcomes over outputs, prioritizing work based on MFP’s product vision and strategy, using data and experimentation.
This Engineering Manager role builds products for our customers and enterprise partners. For our customers, you will create engaging experiences that help them reach their goals. For our enterprise partners, you will build products that enable them to enroll, manage, and incentivize their users to achieve better health and business outcomes.
Essential Duties:
As the Engineering Manager you are first and foremost responsible for the team and their ability to support the objectives of the product squad, focused on developing and maintaining external partner integrations, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and efficient solutions. You will ensure engineers are working closely with Product and Design in discovery and the work is effectively transitioned through delivery, keeping an eye on the quality and maintainability of codebases.
You will act as a primary technical point of contact for external partners, providing strategic guidance and ensuring successful technical alignment. You will work closely with engineering, product, and design teams to define and deliver technical requirements for these strategic partnerships. You will then drive the design and implementation of APIs, SDKs, and other integration tools to facilitate seamless collaboration with partner technologies.
As you partner closely with product and design managers, you'll champion the product operating model by using a variety of qualitative and quantitative tools to discover solutions that are valuable for customers and the business. You will take a hands-on approach to delivery management, ensuring the backlog is healthy, maintenance and tech debt work are scheduled, and work is broken down appropriately, in a timely manner.
You will run agile sprint ceremonies and coach others to do the same. Everyone on the team should feel engaged in the process and empowered to suggest necessary work and ways to improve. Your success is dependent on the success of your team, and you’re committed to coach and support a team of skilled engineers.
To effectively coach, you must care about each team member individually and aid them in both their personal growth and their ability to work as a team. You will coach engineers using weekly one-on-ones, building trust and delivering feedback with kind candor. You must lead by example, embodying our three engineering values:

Learn and Iterate
Qualifications to be successful in this role:
6+ years experience leading an engineering team in the Product Operating Model as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead, quickly validating hypotheses through a range of testing tactics

Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent real-world experience
