Link-building
The Motley Fool is looking for a highly skilled freelance digital marketing contractor with subject matter expertise in link building campaigns.
We’re anticipating 20 hours per week (depending on the freelancer’s schedule) for at least 6 months. This role is flexible and 100% remote, however, applicants must reside in the United States for consideration.
Who Are We?
We are The Motley Fool, a purpose-driven financial information and services firm with nearly 30 years of experience focused on making the world smarter, happier, and richer. But what does that even mean?! It means we’re helping Fools (always with a capital “F”) demystify the world of finance, beat the stock market, and achieve personal wealth and happiness through our products and services. The Motley Fool is firmly committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity. We are a motley group of overachievers that have built a culture of trust founded on Foolishness, fun, and a commitment to making the world smarter, happier and richer. However you identify or whatever winding road has led you to us, please don't hesitate to apply if the description above leaves you thinking, 'Hey! I could do that!'
What Does This Team Do?
In this role, you have a unique opportunity to contribute to both of The Motley Fool’s primary business verticals — investing content and personal finance content. You will support the Evergreen content team that is responsible for publishing educational webpages around topics like stocks, bonds, credit cards, brokerages, and more.
The team is a motley crew who are highly motivated, innovative, versatile, and comfortable driving content strategy from conception through execution in a fast-paced and high-growth environment. And while their gut instinct can take them so far, they know very well the power of data and harness it with every critical choice they make.
What Would You Do in This Role?
With support from the SEO team and the Director of Public Relations, you’ll have the opportunity to build authoritative, relevant backlinks to our site’s core Evergreen pages to enable them to perform better in search algorithms. Ideally, you will have extensive experience identifying quality prospects and managing link building campaign development and outreach from brainstorm to execution. You are an autonomous, motivated digital marketer with a proven track record of successful campaigns that have met or exceeded critical KPIs.
In terms of deliverables, the ideal candidate will pitch and secure 5-10 high-authority, relevant backlinks per month to specific pages and report out key metrics like domain authority, domain relevance, URL where the backlink lives and where the backlink is attributed, and anchor text.
While your role will involve some oversight from the team leaders mentioned above, you will be granted a lot of individual autonomy in how you structure, organize and maintain your outreach campaigns.
But What Would You Actually Do in this role?
Collaborate with the SEO and PR teams to create linkbuilding campaigns for important evergreen investing and personal finance URLs.
Source prospects and contact information for outreach campaigns.
Organize campaign workflow, management and timeline.
Send email pitches to prospects through an official Motley Fool email address.
Track and report campaign successes on a monthly cadence, highlighting relevant KPIs and areas of opportunity.
Use proven digital marketing strategies to boost URL and brand authority.
Required Experience:
You share our driving passion for teaching the world about investing and personal finance.
You’re a skilled writer, digital marketer, and public relations professional, and you’re ready to send us samples of your past successful outreach campaigns.
You have a strong understanding of The Motley Fool’s mission, brand, and competitors.
You have experience creating and managing link building campaigns for other financial services companies.
You have the ability to write in our Foolish tone! We’re informative but never patronizing. Our goal is to demystify the world of finance in a fun and thoughtful way.
You are awesome (but you already knew that)!
Compensation:
Below is our target compensation range. While we are budget conscious, we’re also eager to find the right person for this role, so if your target is outside of this range, please don’t hesitate to apply and we’d be happy to have a conversation.
