Magnet Forensics is looking for a skilled Grant Writer who will be responsible for identifying and procuring grant awards for our public safety customers. As a member of the marketing organization, the Grant Writer will research, write and format compelling, high-quality grant proposals for customers to submit to funding agencies (federal, state and private foundations). The Grant Writer is responsible for analyzing grant opportunities and making sound recommendations on their feasibility. The Grant Writer will collaborate closely with the sales team to proactively identify and support customer grant opportunities, as well as collaborate with marketing to create, present, and maintain grant program assets. The Grant Writer will also be responsible for preparing various written representations for our customer such as applications and certifications as needed. The successful candidate could also be called upon to contribute to public safety content creation, to support the marketing team’s objectives.
Responsibilities
Researches and identifies potential funding/resource opportunities in support of current and/or new programs.
Maintains current line-of-sight with developing State, and Federal Funding Programs, as well as Foundation grants
Conducts full range of activities required to prepare and manage funding/resource applications. Help our customers package a successful grant submission.
Maintains records of completed applications and tracks status of projects, monetary amounts and deadlines associated with each opportunity.
Ensures organizational compliance of all tasks, communications, and reports related to awarded funds or other programs as assigned.
Lead or assist (edit, proofread etc.) in non-grant narratives/content such as applications and certificates, blog posts, webinars, etc., as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent amount of education and experience considered.
5+ years’ experience preferred.
Grant Writer certification preferred but not required.
Experience in researching, writing and securing grant opportunities for public safety. Existing track record of grant success and win rate is an asset, as well as example(s) of previous successful grant submissions
Excellent oral and written skills, and knowledge of State and Federal funding environment and willingness to learn about new funding opportunities.
Knowledge of community agencies and resources.
Ability to research topics and prepare reports.
Strong capacity to develop relationships with community organizations, foundations, corporations and individuals.
Experience collaborating with sales teams to identify & support customer grant opportunities and collaboratively navigate the process
Travel: minimal
Perform other content create duties as needed

Compensation & Benefits
The Compensation Range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills. If the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (ie. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary + variable).
Compensation Range:
MIN: $73,600 - MID: $92,000 - MAX: $110,400 Currency: CAD
MIN: $81,600 - MID: $102,000 - MAX: $122,400 Currency: USD
