Director of UX
About the Role
We’re seeking a full-time director to lead our User Experience organization.
You will be responsible for working closely with internal teams across the organization to tackle UX challenges big and small. The manager/director manages a team of designers and frontend developers to create best of breed cybersecurity products. WatchGuard is known for creating security products that are simple to use, easy to understand and extremely secure and the UX organization plays a key role in this. The talented team is located in multiple countries and works remotely.
Responsibilities
Leading interaction and visual design by leading research, design, prototyping and testing new designs for features as well as new products
Work closely with development teams all over the world on design and implementation in an agile environment
Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers
Lead research efforts with existing customers and WatchGuard’s partner network
Lead team members through designing and running usability testing
Cultivate and elevate the role of design in all projects
Incorporate both functionality and brand consistency throughout the design process
Lead the maintenance and version improvements of WatchGuard’s cloud platform design system
Skills and Experience
10+ years of user experience design and management experience
Experience designing enterprise-level websites, desktop software and cloud applications
5+ years of experience using Figma. HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a bonus
Ability to work with teams to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet their needs and vision
Experience compiling and providing final specifications and assets to development team
Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of responsive design
A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns
A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design
Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions for approval
Be excited to mentor and grow a team, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them
Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $195,000 - $210,000 USD, exclusive of benefits. This position is also eligible for a bonus of 20% of the base salary. Your base salary compensation will be based on your individual skills, education, and experience. Please keep in mind that the above range is the full base salary range for this role; hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical in order to allow for future salary growth.
