Position Summary:
The Director of Software Engineering directs and oversees the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications according to business needs. They manage personnel and provide strategic technical leadership to ensure we can continue to deliver high quality products on a predictable schedule. The Director understands the objectives of Pax8 as an organization and helps utilize the software engineering team to develop applications that help the business meet its OKRs.
Essential Responsibilities:
Directs and oversees the software engineering function in developing, releasing, maintaining, and documenting software applications according to business needs
Establishes policies and procedures that produce high quality software
Provides technical consultation as well as subject matter expertise to Product Development and Software Development teams
Hires, trains, and supervises Software Engineering staff and managers
Helps to define Software Engineering policies and budget
Removes technical obstacles from Software Development team so that they can attain optimal team performance
Coordinates and manages on call rotations
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
At least three (3) years of experience managing large engineering teams, including both managers and individual contributors
Technical leadership experience in design and implementation of application services that are highly reliable, scalable, and flexible
Strong experience in various elements of software development as an individual contributor prior to a leadership role
Proven record of creating sweeping improvements in stability, performance, security, and scalability across major business-critical systems.
Experience mentoring top technical and leadership talent
Set the strategic direction for the software engineering team, including identifying and prioritizing key initiatives and projects
Required Education & Certifications:
B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
Compensation:
Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $160,000 or more depending on experience
Expected Closing Date: 7/31/24
