Director of Design (Product & Marketing)
The Role We Need:
PadSplit is hiring a Director of Design (Product & Marketing) to lead and elevate our design efforts across product and marketing, ensuring a seamless and impactful user experience from first engagement to long-term retention. This hybrid role combines hands-on design work with strategic leadership, shaping our brand, refining our design systems, and mentoring a talented team of product and marketing designers.
The Person We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned design leader with a proven track record of building and scaling design teams while delivering exceptional user-centered experiences. This role requires someone to balance providing the strategic vision for design with hands-on execution to ensure alignment across marketing and product design to create seamless end-to-end journeys. The right candidate will have a passion for mentorship, a strong collaborative spirit, and the ability to champion multi-disciplinary design in a dynamic, fast-growth environment.
Here’s What You’ll Do Day-To-Day:
Strategic Visioning: Develop and communicate the design vision by creating a strategic roadmap that aligns with company goals and user needs.
Hands-On Execution: Lead design execution for high-priority initiatives in both product (e.g., feature research and UI design) and marketing (e.g., digital campaigns and presentations).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product, and Engineering, to ensure cohesive brand and user experiences.
Brand Refinement: Refine and evolve PadSplit’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints, from marketing materials to product interfaces.
System Scalability: Enhance the current design system by creating component libraries, style guides, and documentation to support a consistent end-user experience.
Designer Mentorship: Mentor and coach designers on their craft, methodology, and career growth, providing feedback and support for ongoing improvement.
User Advocacy: Advocate for human-centered design in leadership discussions, promoting the value of qualitative research and customer insights.
Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze and review user feedback and data to inform design decisions and prioritize feature improvements or new projects.
Feedback Facilitation: Facilitate design critiques and feedback sessions, fostering a collaborative and iterative design culture.
Industry Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and integrate best practices to keep PadSplit’s design and branding at the forefront of the market.
Here’s What You’ll Need To Be Successful:
Design Experience: 8+ years of design experience, with a demonstrated focus on both product and marketing design.
Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring design teams, showcasing the ability to foster growth and collaboration.
Portfolio or Github: Strong portfolio that highlights a diverse range of design deliverables across product and marketing projects.
Design Best Practices: Deep expertise in user-centered design principles, methodologies, and research, ensuring the customer voice is central to all initiatives.
Design Tools Experience: Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with the flexibility to adapt to additional design, prototyping, and research tools.
Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating design decisions to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Data-Driven Skills: Understanding of marketing and product metrics, such as conversion funnels and campaign performance, to align design efforts with business outcomes.
Real Estate or Marketplace Experience: Familiarity with marketplaces or real estate industries is a plus, providing valuable context for PadSplit’s mission and operations.
The Interview Process:
Your application will be reviewed for possible next steps by the Hiring Manager.
If you meet eligibility requirements, the next step would be a phone screen with a member of the PeopleOps team for about thirty (30) minutes.
If warranted, the next step would be a video interview with one of our Head of Product for forty-five (45) minutes.
If warranted, the next step would be a video interview with a small panel of key stakeholders for two (2) hours. For this interview, a candidate would execute a live assessment to the panel for discussion.
If warranted, the final step would be a video interview with our President for thirty (30) minutes.
If warranted, then we move to offer!
