Director of Accounting

We are seeking a Director of Accounting to join our rapidly expanding team of seasoned finance professionals. The Director of Accounting will report to the VP, Corporate Controller and play an important role in managing and developing our world-class accounting team as our company grows. This role presents an incredible learning opportunity and will include exposure to a variety of accounting processes and business process optimization in a global, fast-paced, and growing environment.
The Director of Accounting will have a high level of visibility and interaction with the executive team. This role will lead all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, management of the external audit, tax filings, and tax planning, as well as the development and administration of internal control procedures.
Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
Lead monthly close process, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Take full ownership of the process including potential systems enhancements, process improvements, and whether to realign roles and responsibilities
Oversee and develop AP, Payroll, and Revenue teams through effective mentoring and performance management
Work cross-functionally with business partners and other corporate functions such as legal, tax, finance, sales, HR and others to ensure optimal accounting outcomes
Accounting Operations, Treasury, and Controls:
Oversee various aspects of operational accounting. Develop and maintain robust internal controls
Design, track, report and continuously improve service level agreements for the back-office accounting operations
Draft and implement accounting policies to ensure compliance with regulatory changes and company objectives
Track and manage treasury function
Revenue Recognition & Contract Management:
Guide sales teams on revenue recognition implications under ASC 606
Partner with Legal and Deal Desk to review non-standard contract terms and accounting treatment
Lead revenue recognition training for sales teams
Establish scalable processes for contract review for revenue recognition
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Ensure integrity of financial reporting through collaboration with external advisors
Manage preparation of financial information for internal and investor reporting, audits, reviews and tax compliance
Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting standards
Ensure financial records and reports are prepared in compliance with company policies and in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Team Management:
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
Build high-performing teams through recruitment, training, and clear role definition
Mentoring and developing staff members to enhance skill sets and prepare them for advancement opportunities within the organization
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the Corporate Controller
Requirements:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in public accounting and/or multinational corporation
CPA and Big Four experience (a plus)
eep understanding of SaaS revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) with on-prem license experience and subscription-based business models required
Netsuite experience required, Carta experience a plus
Must be system savvy to learn and adopt new systems as needed.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex matters with simplicity and clarity to non-experts across the company
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage multi-location teams
Must have a customer service mindset and a team player mentality
Must have a positive, strong, proactive work ethic
Experience working in a fast-paced environment

This position has an annual estimated salary of 158,000$ - $215,000 per year. This position has an additional variable compensation in the form of a bonus or commission component, which is dependent on personal or company performance.
