Developer Advocate
About the Role
AssemblyAI is seeking a passionate Developer Advocate to help developers find AssemblyAI, get inspired about what they can build with our Speech AI models, and start building on our API. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between AssemblyAI and our developer community by connecting with them directly across social and community channels, build relationships with our users and partnerships across the ecosystem to collaborate on innovative ideas, drive engagement and virality with our developer audience, and help AssemblyAI become a household name with the developer audience.
As a Developer Advocate at AssemblyAI, you'll play a crucial role in further establishing us with our developer audience. You'll be the voice of AssemblyAI to our developer audience on our social channels, foster community relationships via hackathons, online forums, and IRL meetups, and put a spotlight on the incredible developers building on our API. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of developer relations, community, and AI technology.
What You’ll Do:
Own our voice and strategy across social and community channels for our developer audience (Twitter, Reddit, Discord, etc)
Amplify the projects and products being built on AssemblyAI’s API to the broader AI community and developer space
Foster innovation from current and prospective developers building on our API and give them opportunities to connect with one another
Find opportunities to connect with other developer relations teams from our ecosystem for comarketing to help broaden our reach with our developer audience
Represent AssemblyAI at industry events, meetups, and conferences
Keep your finger on the pulse of what developers are talking about and focused on within the AI space to help our social and content strategy stay ahead of the curve
Host and attend hackathons in the AI space to help developers discover and build with AssemblyAI
Create technical social content including tutorials, code samples, and videos that are helpful, shareable, and engaging for our audience
Develop and deliver engaging presentations and workshops at developer conferences and community events
Act as the voice of the developer within AssemblyAI, providing feedback to product and engineering teams
Collaborate with product and research teams to help amplify the innovation coming out of AssemblyAI
What You’ll Need:
Required
3+ years of software development, developer relations, or developer community experience
Proven network and experience building community with a developer audience across channels like Twitter, YouTube, Discord, Reddit, etc.
Experience helping developers be successful, whether it be demos, presentations, videos, or blogs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience speaking at technical conferences or meetups
Passion for developer education and community building
Preferred
Experience with speech recognition, audio processing, or machine learning technologies
Existing network or following from the developer community (Twitter, YouTube, Blog)
Contributions to open-source projects
Experience building and maintaining developer communities
Background in creating video content or technical demonstrations

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size, stage, and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefit, and other reward opportunities we provide.
There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level, qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.
The provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range which will be communicated to candidates throughout the interview process.
Salary range: $149,00 - $166,000
