Design Director - UX
About the Role:
We’re searching for someone deeply passionate about designing intuitive, scalable, and cohesive product experiences. This person will own the full blueprint that underpins the consistency and capabilities of our ecosystem. They will serve as the connective tissue between product strategy, design, and engineering—ensuring that all elements work harmoniously together to serve both the business and the user.
This role goes beyond typical UX and IA responsibilities. We need a team leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments, balancing long-term strategic thinking with rapid iteration. You and your team will need to orchestrate detailed, cross-functional workflows and apply systems thinking to both the product architecture and the broader customer journey. The ideal candidate will be adept at simplifying complexity without losing nuance and will be laser-focused on creating seamless experiences for users at every touchpoint.
You Will:
Architect the Entire Experience: Own the structural blueprint of our user experience across digital platforms, ensuring all interactions, content, and flows are aligned and scalable. You’ll not only design the frameworks but also ensure that they are adaptable as our products evolve.
Systems Thinking & Scalability: Apply a holistic, systems-based approach to information architecture. Create models that support both user needs and business goals, while also accounting for future growth and adaptability.
Cross-Functional & Design Leadership: Act as a central point of alignment between product managers, designers, engineers, and marketing. Your work will influence every layer of the customer experience, requiring you to balance input from diverse teams while driving toward a cohesive vision. You’ll partner with design peers and manage designers directly, an ability to laterally influence, while also vertically managing will be key.
Blueprint for All Teams: Build and maintain a comprehensive blueprint that visually captures the user experience, allowing teams to understand dependencies, touchpoints, and best practices. This blueprint will serve as the core guide across the organization for consistent, aligned product development.
Iterative Prototyping & Testing: Rapidly prototype and test ideas to validate user flows, information structures, and interaction patterns. Iterate based on feedback and evolving business needs while balancing speed and accuracy.
Documentation & Evangelism: Create clear, actionable documentation that supports implementation by design and engineering teams. You’ll evangelize the importance of UX architecture and help teams stay aligned with the established frameworks.
Hands-On and Strategic: You will own high-level strategy and detailed design execution. You’ll work on everything from outlining the user journey across multiple touchpoints to designing micro-interactions and evaluating information hierarchies.
You Have:
10 plus years of proven track record in UX, Information Architecture, or related roles, particularly in environments requiring a mix of high-level strategy and execution.
Experience working with complex, multi-layered digital products, ideally in industries like healthcare, e-commerce, or other fast-paced sectors.
Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
Experience with information modeling, wireframing, and prototyping tools.
Ability to influence, mentor and manage a team of product designers
[Bonus] Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools and methodologies, along with a data-driven mindset.
Unique Qualities We’re Looking For:
Architect & Storyteller: You’re able to tell the story of how users will navigate our products. You understand the emotional and practical layers of an experience and can translate them into a logical, visual structure.
Connector of Teams & Ideas: You are the bridge between teams and disciplines. Whether it’s simplifying complex technical constraints or translating business needs into user-friendly experiences, you thrive on uniting diverse viewpoints into a singular vision.
Simplicity from Complexity: You’re adept at taking highly complex processes and distilling them into simple, elegant, and intuitive user flows. You thrive in environments where ambiguity reigns and are skilled at finding clarity in the chaos.
Adaptable and Resilient: Given the fast pace of our business, you are comfortable adjusting your work based on shifting priorities and timelines. You enjoy the challenge of iterating and refining while keeping long-term scalability in mind.
Strategic Doer: You have a bias toward action. While you’re able to craft high-level strategies, you are also not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved in the details.
