The team
As the Deputy Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for Crypto Facilities (Kraken MTF) compliance with all applicable Functional Requirements in order for us to successfully meet regulated Investment Firm, MTF and CASS regulatory obligations. You will build and manage a small team to ensure that Crypto Facilities maintains good regulatory standing with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
The ideal candidate should have experience working in a financial brokerage or exchange trading environment, with a deep understanding of requirements applicable to activities under MiFID, MiFIR, MAR, SMCR, CASS and UK crypto asset regulatory frameworks, and be well-versed in ongoing regulatory and policy discussions in the UK with respect to crypto assets.
The opportunity
Be responsible for the ongoing compliance of the firm with all applicable regulatory requirements for operating a Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) and regulated Investment Firm
Be responsible for all regulatory and compliance matters associated with our activities under the Financial Conduct Authority’s (“FCA”) Client Assets Sourcebook (“CASS”) and, in turn, for the establishment and adequate functioning of appropriate policies and procedures
Assisting the business in interpreting and responding to new regulatory proposals and emerging regulatory risks. Working with the business to achieve objectives in light of regulatory developments, including providing regular briefings on the impact of these developments to the Management team
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of operational risks (including technology security risk, operational resilience and business continuity), conduct risks and prudential risks in order to build an effective risk monitoring program
Be the stakeholder of the New Products and Initiatives Approval Process (PROD) focusing on strategic growth and in line with the regulatory business plan of the Firm
Instigating projects or initiatives which close regulatory gaps and manage actions to address issues in line with dates agreed with FCA Management reporting and analysis
Playing a critical role in supporting the ongoing product development / delivery activity as 2LOD to ensure regulatory compliance is woven into plans at an early stage. Providing direction on the implementation and embedding of relevant compliance policy and standards
Skills you should HODL
8+ years in a previous finance, product control or CASS Oversight position at an FCA regulated financial institution
Experience within trading venue or investment firm financial operations at an FCA regulated firm
Strong Derivative Product experience across MiFID II
Comprehensive knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, developments, and licensing requirements - particularly Safeguarding and/or CASS
Familiarity with anti-money laundering and know-your-customer best practices in UK & EU markets
Skilled in collaborating with stakeholders at all levels across technical and non-technical groups
Ability to lead in a fast growing company environment with focused and hardworking individuals
Strong preference for prior regulated crypto services experience
