This role requires an individual to be the custodian of Crux’s data inventory, quality and create and enforce the company’s data policies. This position monitors the processes for collecting data and ensures that the information is formatted and cataloged correctly for Crux’s customers. The Data Steward will organize data according to Crux preferences and help solve data-related issues by managing data corruption or mapping data between programs. This role addresses the ways that data can improve the Crux's business performance and establish rules for the collection, storage and ownership of data to further support its performance. The Data Steward helps the company's overall operational processes by protecting its data and providing data protection training to employees.
Responsibilities:
· Define & document policies and procedures related to Data such as : Collection, Processing, Quality, Storage, Security, Access, Dispatch(Entitlements), Retention, Purging, Archival, Retrievals, Governance and others based on compliance, audit, supplier & client contracts, SLA, SLOs, escalations etc for each onboarded dataset
· Implement these policies with the help of engineering & operations teams
· Establish processes to continuously Monitor, validate, report on incidents related to the defined policies and alert the L1 service desk of any violations from the stated policies
· Work with external data suppliers, gather the supplier provided documentation, extract the content , run data profiling and communicate the requirements such as data processing, quality, content readiness, holiday calendar behavior , SLAs and other related details to data engineers in a Crux approved medium & format.
· Partner with data engineers in ensuring that all the stated requirements are clearly understood to ensure that data moves seamlessly between systems and functions, reducing data redundancies and minimizing data inconsistencies.
· Provide feedback to the Platform Engineering teams on improving the Crux Application experience on the AI/ML curation of the vendor documentation models based on the analysis
· Establish continuous monitoring and notification practices to ensure that any deviations from stated requirements are detected and resolved in a timely manner prior to SLAs.
· Subscribe to supplier alerts related to datasets and ensure that any changes on the current data contracts & schemas are evaluated, understood and remediated by the data engineering team prior to the targeted deadline communicated by the suppliers.
· Establish clear escalation procedures with the supplier to ensure timely resolution in case of data delays or discrepancies
· Organize the supplier data specifications , documentations and associated sample datasets in accordance with Crux’s policies and make them available for all employees for easy access.
· Through effective data cataloging, enable users to discover and access relevant information swiftly, enhancing data accessibility and utilization across the organization.
· Enrich the Crux catalog with business glossaries and metadata around the datasets.
· Provide information on potential risks to the security of data and monitor data usage to locate abnormalities and prevent breaches.
· Develop & Report metrics to relevant members of the organization and identify, track and evaluate issues regularly
· Collaborate closely with internal data professionals, departments and stakeholders to streamline data management practices, resolve data-related issues, and drive organizational success through data-driven decision-making.
· Bridge the gap between technical expertise and business objectives, fostering a data excellence and accountability culture.
· Collaborate with Customer Success Manager, Technical Account Manager , Go-to-Market team in preparing for client onboarding
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field and 5-7 years proven experience as a Data Steward or similar role, preferably in the financial sector. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
· Sense of ownership and responsibility, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Demonstrable obsession with data quality, data governance, data profiling & analysis and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrable ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to partner with Go-To-Market, External Data Suppliers with deep understanding of the capital markets industry and investment data.
· Strong SQL, Python and data analysis skills are a must
· Prior experience on Looker would be a huge plus
· Prior experience in working with an Asset Management Firm or any other buy-side firm is a huge advantage.
$160,000 - $180,000 a year
