Data Science Manager - Growth, Acquisition and User Lifecycle

What you'll do:
Build, inspire and grow a high performance team of data scientists that are thought partners to the teams that are responsible for key drivers of Pinterest’s growth and user retention: User acquisition, Social Experiences, New User Experience, and Notifications.
Work with product and eng partners help identify and answer important “why” questions. Lead the team to structure ambiguous business challenges into actionable plans. Ensure that your team is producing consistently trustworthy and high-quality technical outputs that influence the business. Drive data-driven decision-making aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
Influence and empower Engineering and Product teams outside of Growth to improve the new user experience and reduce user churn through compelling insights and measurement frameworks.
Communicate complex analytical findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Mentor data scientists to develop their careers and achieve their goals, from early career through senior level.
Be a champion for building highly talented and diverse teams with an inclusive culture.
What we're looking for:
MS or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
8+ years of combined postgraduate academic and industry experience.
3+ years of experience in managing teams of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Hands-on experience as a data scientist, algorithmic engineer, or machine learning engineer in a technology company.
Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
Strong business and product sense: delight in shaping vague questions into well-defined analyses and success metrics that drive business decisions.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to craft compelling data narratives.
Experience with hypothesis driven product development and developing analytical frameworks.
Experience being a thought partner to improve decision quality and able to influence with expertise
What skills are ideal but not required?
Experience working in a Growth function, in particular experience with SEO, new user activation, user retention and/or notifications.
Experience working on a daily/weekly use app with business goals of increasing DAU/WAU/MAU
