Claims Counsel
About the role
The Claims team at Coalition stands apart for our outstanding level of client service and active and intelligent handling of claims for our insureds. Coalition is committed to identifying and managing cyber risk for our insureds and our claims team helps to manage the impact and outcomes of cyber events. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced attorney to join our cyber claims team and to lend a hand in handling first-party and third-party matters under complex primary Cyber, Tech, and Media policies. You will also provide support to the underwriting and actuarial teams and oversee the activities of a variety of vendors, including breach counsel, defense counsel, and the broader incident response team for Coalition and its partner carriers.
Responsibilities
Handle the intake of cyber events, including the coordination with breach counsel, forensic investigators and other vendors
Evaluate full pending of claims in connection with the posting and recommending accurate reserves
Maintain accurate file documentation/information in our claims system
Analyze liability and damage data in connection with complex claims
Maintain appropriate file documentation
Analyze insurance coverage issues
Prepare coverage letters
Proactively manage and track work done by third-party vendors and service providers
Maintain and develop relationships with brokers, risk managers, and a variety of firms and vendors
Collaborate with insureds on resolution strategies and identification of settlement opportunities
Provide data and analytic based-informational support to our actuarial and underwriting partners.
Provide support to Coalition’s business development team in marketing efforts and the placement of new and renewal business
Liaise with partner carriers on a regular basis
Skills and Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree
Willingness to promptly acquire adjusting licenses (existing individual CA licensure is a plus)
2+ years of experience handling Cyber, Tech, Media claims (other Executive Risk claims experience is a plus)
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, interact with others, meet deadlines, and successfully perform in a fast-paced, changing work environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Team-oriented with ability to excel in a collegial environment but work independently
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $120,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $150,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location. Your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process. Coalition, Inc. reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
