Role Overview
As the Agile Delivery Lead, this role is at the forefront of both product design and project management, collaborating with key clients to ensure alignment between client expectations and internal delivery, from inception to the completion of a project.
The Agile Delivery Lead is accountable for maximizing the value of the product created by the engineering project team, as well as driving agile (scrum and kanban) practices within teams, while the project manager component encompasses traditional project management aspects, which consist of reporting, budgeting, capacity, risk and client management.
This role forms part of the Delivery Team and came about due to a specific need at Deimos whereby one highly capable Delivery Team member is able to be fully accountable for the delivery of a project in its entirety - i.e. where the delivery aspects are not split across the roles of scrum product owner and agile project manager.
What you will be doing:
1. Product Ownership
The Product Owner can be described as “the CEO of the product”, and is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the scrum team
This translates into:
Leading the product functional design process with key client stakeholders, showcasing product, design and technical ability.
Leading requirement gathering sessions to extract client requirements.
Collaborating with key clients and internal teams to define product roadmaps, giving input into the product vision and strategy.
Positively influencing and guiding the overall product design, featureset and usability.
Translating product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including epics, user stories/ tasks, and acceptance test criteria.
Maintaining and prioritising the product backlog (roadmap items, bugs, change requests, etc).
Being an exceptional story creator with strong Jira expertise.
Collaborating in an agile environment and continuously reviewing client business needs, refine priorities, milestones and deliverables, identifying opportunities and risks, while working closely with Delivery and Engineering leadership.
Ensuring that product delivery is on time and within budget, supporting the leadership team.
Collaborating with the engineering team to deliver stellar products that exceed customer expectations.
Understanding, driving and participating in various agile ceremonies: backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint review and sprint retrospective.
Collecting and sharing the appropriate data, driving data-driven decision making.
2. Project Management
Plan, manage and drive project delivery, ensuring projects remain within scope, timeline and budget
Ensure projects are properly resourced, and that resource requirements are communicated promptly and understood by the client and the Deimos team
Schedule and facilitate all project meetings and Agile ceremonies
Participate in scoping sessions, and prioritise delivery with clients
Facilitate and gather effort estimates from the team to produce cost estimates and timelines
Facilitate communication between the client and Deimos to resolve any dependencies and impediments
Identify and manage risks and ensure any concerns are escalated via the appropriate channels
Establish, gather, analyze and report on key KPIs to measure the overall success of the project delivery, as well as the team’s effectiveness
3. Leadership and Account Management
Be a Deimos brand ambassador - know and live the Deimos values
Collaborate and lead multiple technical projects of varying size and complexity, alongside each project’s leadership team, from proposal through discovery to delivery
Own and manage multiple products simultaneously
Represent Deimos in all client engagements and interactions - speaking on behalf of the company and the brand
Focus on stellar delivery in all engagements, both large and small
Understand each clients’ business, their strategy (both short and long term) and build strong relationships and rapport with client teams and individuals
4. Agile
Understand the Scrum framework as defined in the most recent version of the Scrum Guide
Certain team and / or projects may also use Kanban due to the nature of the deliverables or the client interaction approach
Facilitate and guide teams w.r.t. the various Scrum values, events and artifacts, i.e. step in and provide guidance to ensure that teams know how to Scrum effectively
Lead and provide input into the standard Scrum events:
Prepare the product backlog
Lead backlog grooming sessions
Lead sprint planning 1 sessions
Be available to provide input at sprint planning 2 sessions
Lead the sprint review
Participate in the sprint retrospective
Understand successful delivery using kanban and guide the team to use kanban best practices
Help the team resolve impediments and resolve client bottlenecks
What you must have
5+ years in agile project management or product ownership, with experience in partnership, reseller, or value-added services environments.
Strong understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Financial acumen with proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource management within a partnership-driven business model.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a remote and fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in Agile or Project Management (e.g., PMP, CSM, CSPO, or SAFe).
Experience in the reseller ecosystem, partnership structures, or cloud-native environments.
Familiarity with financial and operational reporting, enabling projects to meet profitability and efficiency targets.
