Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Positioning

Lime aims to have a scooter or bike ready for you at the right place at the right time. To do that, we need to find the most effective way to deploy our vehicles throughout a city and constantly rebalance them to best satisfy demand. The ML team plays a critical role in this optimization problem by forecasting demand and recommending deployment locations to our operations partners. We work closely with data scientists, local operators who know their city block-by-block and engineering teams across the stack.
Join as a Staff ML Engineer to tackle this complex and multi-faceted problem as well as a variety of other ML challenges.
What You'll Do:
Contribute directly to improving Lime’s demand forecasting and positioning algorithms.
Help set and execute a multi-year ML strategy, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies, processes and techniques.
Collaborate closely across engineering, product, data science, operations and more to make the best technical and product decisions.
Coach engineers and data scientists.
About You:
7+ years of industry professional software engineering and/or ML experience with a track record of building and maintaining successful products.
Experience employing a variety of machine learning techniques
Collaboration skills when working cross-functionally with product managers, operations teams and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Passion for helping your teammates grow and influencing the technical culture.
Ability to set a technical vision and execute against it.
Sense of urgency to get things done and deliver incrementally
Preferred experience
Specific experience in forecasting demand
Specific experience with reinforcement learning
Specific experience with online learning
Experience or interest in experimenting with LLMs
The anticipated salary range for this position is $176,000 - $242,000. Equity and benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, depending on the position offered. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s location of residence, the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications. In addition to base salary, some roles may be eligible for a variable bonus based on a combination of company performance, employee performance, and management discretion.
