🚀 About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Consultant with deep expertise in employee benefits to join our team as a Solutions Consultant. In this role, you will be a key player in supporting our Sales team by engaging with prospective clients in the mid-to-late stages of the sales cycle. As a consultative subject matter expert, you’ll bring insights on benefits strategy, funding solutions, cost containment, and innovative approaches to enhance client offerings. While this role does not require lead generation, you will be instrumental in helping secure new business by advising prospective clients on best-in-class benefits solutions that align with their immediate needs and long-term goals.
The Solutions Consultant will present in finalist and executive-level meetings, leveraging their expertise to influence decisions. You’ll also play a role in key account renewals, providing strategic oversight and ensuring benefit programs remain aligned with evolving client goals. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong consulting acumen who can guide prospects through the process and help close deals while ensuring that expectations are aligned with our onboarding practices. This is a remote U.S.-based position, with required availability for client meetings in Eastern Time Zone.
🚀 Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Engagement
Pre-Sale Engagement: Participate in mid-to-late stage sales pursuits to understand client needs and showcase our consulting services.
Client Consultation: Work with select clients during advanced sales stages, analyzing their pain points and linking our solutions to address these needs effectively.
Solution Development: Collaborate with the sales team to develop and present tailored solutions that solve prospective clients' challenges.
Thought Leadership: Provide answers to client questions about benefits and services, building trust to help facilitate winning deals.
Expectation Setting & Onboarding
Expectation Management: Ensure that expectations for service plans, onboarding, and rollout are clearly communicated to late-stage prospects and newly closed clients.
Onboarding Consistency: Provide oversight to ensure rigorous adherence to our onboarding checklist and playbook by all departments, escalating any pre-sale exceptions with brokerage leadership to maintain a seamless client experience.
Leadership in Onboarding: Guide Client Success and Operations onboarding teams by setting clear objectives and monitoring performance. Liaise with Client Success to effectively transfer client insights and strategic goals, ensuring a smooth, positive transition from sales to service that aligns with client expectations.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
Consulting Integration: Work closely with brokerage leadership to integrate our consulting expertise into the sales process, enhancing client experience and deal outcomes.
Sales Training Support: Support the training and development of the sales team by sharing insights, knowledge, and best practices around service offerings and benefits consulting.
🚀 Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years in benefits consulting with demonstrated expertise in:
Alternate Funding Strategies: Familiarity with innovative funding methods and their application.
Underwriting: Strong understanding of underwriting processes and best practices.
Benefit Program Design: Proven experience in crafting effective benefits programs that align with client needs.
Carrier Management & Negotiations: Skilled in managing carrier relationships and driving favorable negotiation outcomes.
Executive Client Engagement: Experienced and comfortable in a client-facing role, with proven ability to present and consult effectively at the executive and C-suite level.
Health Insurance License: Must currently possess an active Health Insurance License.
